The Crafty Haven is more than a shop; it's a community hub dedicated to sharing the art of handicrafts.
In a world where people are becoming increasingly socially isolated we strive to facilitate a meeting place for crafters to enjoy creating in a nurturing environment. We have created a space where people of all abilities and ages can enjoy a beloved craft or try something new. We hope to encourage people to unleash their creativity whilst making new friends along the way.
Health, Well being, and Mindfulness
One in eight people will experience some kind of mental health issue during their lifetime. The consequences can be very isolating, limiting enjoyment of life and a sense of well being. Our staff at the Crafty Haven have undertaken mental health awareness courses in partnership with Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust. We are also CRB/DBS checked to provide confidence that our space is a safe and non-judgemental environment for all our crafters. We welcome everyone as a friend and facilitate a group where our crafters can be themselves without fear of judgement.
Whether you're a crafter or simply love the vibe, we invite you to come and experience the joy of creativity with us.
Don't miss out on our upcoming events and workshops!
We are founded on the premise that there is a craft for everyone.
We are conscious of people with health conditions such as arthritis, who may be unable to knit, sew, or crochet. We offer diamond painting and needle felting which can be achieved with limited hand mobility.
Our aim is bring back the sense of joy and accomplishment creating art inspires.
Ever since COVID our society has been suffering a loneliness epidemic. Many face to face networks have never fully recovered.
Our aim is to remedy this by by creating our own local community. The Crafty Haven has been built to create a friendship group where our crafters are confident to come alone or as a group.
Our drive is to create a space full of friends that you have not met yet.
It's quite simple, we offer two hour crafting sessions.
Tuesday to Saturday
9.30–11.30*
11.30-1.30
1.30–3.30*
*except Wednesday
We have 8 spaces available per session, please contact us to book your seat. Each session is £5.00 and includes a complimentary cup of tea or coffee.
With every initial purchase of two sessions we are including a free mini craft to try.
Kits available include cross stitch, knitting, crochet, diamond painting and needle felting.
New crafts are being added all the time and we welcome your feedback about what you would like to include.
We offer larger and more complex kits to buy and take home. We would rather you stay in our community, so to help with this you can spread the cost of your kit over the in shop sessions it takes to complete.
We have an experienced knitting tutor who is happy to show budding knitters the 'way of the knitting needle'. We are also looking to bring a crochet teacher on board. The Crafty Haven also offers an in shop resource library of pattern books.
We also stock our carefully curated gift baskets containing everything you need to get started on a new craft. They will include the materials, tools, and pattern to get you started.
There was a time when I had recently moved to Bolton where I had no established friendship group. I struggled to connect with people due to my social anxiety. I joined an art therapy group . As I began to create art, along the way I found my community. I also found my voice again. I have started The Crafty Haven in the hope I can give back to the community the joy I have rediscovered in myself.
My journey has not been easy. At my worst I suffered from agoraphobia and anxiety. Just putting out my bin felt like climbing Mount Everest. No one is more shocked than I that I am opening a shop and crafting community! I've realised that inspiration can be found in the most unlikely places. People who can change your life can be found by chatting over a brew and craft. Sometimes taking the first few steps can be hard.
All I want is to create a place where taking a step into my shop will feel like coming into a safe and comfortable home.
We all need a flock to turn to. I've loved my flock and I'm ready to shepherd a flock of my own.
So come on in and join me as we all need community, a warm brew, and a chat.
The first piece of art I created wasn't perfect but my heart filled up. I looked at it in awe and thought 'I made that!'. There is nothing like that feeling of accomplishment. In that moment I remembered who I was before I became ill. If I can help one person to feel that joy, my journey will have been worth it.
As they say 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'.
Let us be your umbrella.
